TRUCK COMPANY OPS

Our Truck / Ladder Company operations courses provide students with a wide array of skills needed to be an effective Truckie on the fireground. Instructors with many years serving in some of the busiest truck companies in the country have developed and present all the tactics and skills necessary to perform laddering, forcible entry, searches, ventilation, and much more.

Interactive Lecture & Hands On Training: 1 to multiple day programs

Customized courses tailored to your organization’s needs vary in length from several hours to multiple days, depending on the chosen course(s), number of skill-sets covered, and number of participants.

Big Truck; Small Crew

Course Type: Interactive Lecture Only, Interactive Lecture & Hands on Training

This original course developed by Lt. Dave Gallagher and Firefighter Bob Swick is an interactive presentation which provides the firefighter and officer with a wide variety of strategies and tactics when assigned to an understaffed truck company. Topics include portable ladders, search techniques, ventilation, forcible entry, and operating within the Incident Command System. Although we certainly do not advocate short-staffing, we know it is a reality in many departments.

Fire Apparatus Driver Training Program

Course Type: Interactive Lecture & Hands On Training

This course consists of 12 hours of lecture and Hands-On training. The lecture consists of an interactive power point and video presentation regarding the basics of apparatus placement and operations, apparatus capabilities, laws pertaining to emergency vehicle operations, basic driver safety, minor preventative maintenance, apparatus check procedures, and basic vehicle driving operations.

The hands-on driving portion of the training will consist of several structured driving and operating of the aerial device scenarios to demonstrate competency in vehicle operations.

Forcible Entry Operations

Course Type: Hands On Training

This Hands-On training utilizing our realistic props, your training facility, or acquired structures, participants will practice forcing doors, multiple types of locks, roll down gates & garage doors, and burglar bars. This training takes a realistic approach to today’s forcible entry obstacles whether in an urban or suburban department.

Street Smart Laddering

Course Type: Hands On Training

This original course was developed by Lt. Michael Ciampo and consists of 1 day of hands on training. Practical evolutions include raises and carries, victim rescues via ground ladders, leg lock maneuvers, multiple portable ladder scenarios, and many more pointers for safer and more effective portable ladder operations. This program can be expanded to multiple days as requested.

Tower Ladder Operations

Course Type: Interactive Lecture Only, Interactive Lecture & Hands on Training

This Powerpoint presentation will provide students with the basics of Tower Ladder operations This includes: maintenance, driving, positioning, movement, set-up, and actual operations of the aerial device. Our instructors will provide street-proven tips and tactics helpful in maintaining safe and efficient operations of the apparatus.

The Hands-On Training consists of:

Truck Company Roof Operations

Course Type: Lecture Only or Hands On Only or Lecture & Hands On Training

This course consists of 1 evening lecture and 1 day of extensive Hands-On evolutions that will consist of Truck Company Roof Operations. This includes portable ladders, peaked and flat roof operations, hand tools, cutting operations with rotary and chain saws, roof operations from aerial apparatus, and several techniques for short-staffed crews.

Truck / Engine Hands on Training

Course Type: Hands On Training

This course is designed to provide personnel with extensive hands-on evolutions that will include Engine Company operations such as basic pre-connected hoseline operations, 2 ½” hoseline operations, hose movement to upper floors, standpipe hook-ups and operations, extended hose stretches, multiple hoseline operations, and live fire attack as an operating engine company.

The Truck Company portion of the course will include portable ladders, search techniques, ventilation / roof operations, vent, enter, search techniques, and several techniques for short-staffed crews.
