This program introduces the student to the do’s and don’t’s of ladder company operations. From pre-planning and size-up to forcible entry and opening up, we discuss various obstacles we have encountered and tips on defeating them. Additional topics include optimizing crew sizes to better complete the multitude of tasks on the fireground, including search and laddering. The goal of this program is to build confidence in the students’ ability to perform quick and thorough truck company operations on the fireground.
- Commanding the Commercial Fireground Response- DC Walter Lewis (Orlando FL FD)
From the pre-plan to the working fire, these complex incidents require insight, understanding, and coordination. This program takes attendees through various stages of commercial firegrounds and helps the incident commander, company officer, and firefighters understand their individual roles and responsibilities, while providing valuable ways to work as a cohesive team to successfully handle fires in this ever changing and challenging environment.
- Preparing for the Commercial Fireground- DC Aaron Heller (Hamilton FD)
Commercial buildings pose far more complex hazards than the typical 1 & 2 family dwellings we commonly encounter.
